10 April 2025 : Missang Co-Sponsor the UK–Japan–Africa Energy Security Sustainable Development Forum
🇬🇧🇯🇵🌍 MISSANG was proud to co-sponsor the Inaugural UK–Japan–Africa Energy Security Sustainable Development Forum in London alongside Sidara and Eaglestone.
Organised and hosted by the Labour African Network and the Embassy of Japan in the UK , the Forum served as a timely and strategic platform ahead of TICAD9, reinforcing the importance of cross-continental partnerships for a more secure, inclusive, and sustainable energy future.
Our Founder & CEO, Dr. Guy Kioni, joined the expert panel to share insights on the role of geo-economics, Critical Mineral supply chains, Local Beneficiation, and Strategic Diplomacy in advancing Africa’s energy resilience. He cited Buenassa as an example of local beneficiation shaping sustainable development on the continent.
The Forum was more than just a gathering — it was a catalyst for actionable dialogue across sectors and continents.
At MISSANG, we remain committed to harnessing technology for impact — whether through digital transformation in UK healthcare NHS or by enabling value addition in Africa’s mining ecosystems.
We continue to drive public-private partnerships that empower countries like the DRC, Zambia, and Namibia to climb the value chain through innovation, collaboration, and global engagement.
Grateful to the host Ernest Ambe, Minister Kyoichiro Kawakami, fellow panelists James Taylor of Anglo American, and John Woolley of Pinsent Masons, and our dynamic moderator Cheriesse Bema-Kwakye for the enriching exchange.
As the world looks towards TICAD9, MISSANG stands ready to support initiatives that place Africa’s strategic resources and potential at the heart of global development conversations.
🔹 Key Outcomes:
Spotlight on Critical Minerals: We underscored how strategic diplomacy and local beneficiation — as seen through Buenassa’s work — are essential for Africa to lead in the global energy transition.
Public Private Synergy: MISSANG reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating cross-border investment and collaboration to help countries like the DRC, Zambia, and Namibia climb the value chain. Keen to pursue the discussion with her Excellencies from the SADC regions.
Policy Impact: The Forum set the tone for a more coordinated UK–Japan–Africa approach to energy resilience, aligning public and private priorities in the run-up to TICAD9.
